This information comes from the video that shows you the right way to use your Pulmicort NebuChamber. This is a specially designed inhaler device that delivers a measured dose of medicine straight to your lungs.
The arrows point to the parts of the Pulmicort NebuChamber that appear in this demonstration. These include the adapter which contains the aerosol canister of Pulmicort medicine. The adapter has a protective cover, which simply slips on and off. The adapter fits into one end of the metal chamber and the valve/mouthpiece fits into the other. The carrying bag is to protect the Pulmicort NebuChamber from dirt.
The metal chamber has two parts.
There are openings at each end. The opening at one end is oval.
And the other is round.
This is a close-up of the valve/mouthpiece. One end is frosted.
This is how you put the Pulmicort NebuChamber together. First, fit the two parts of the metal chamber together like this.
Next, put the frosted end of the valve/mouthpiece into the round opening. It should fit tightly.
Take the protective cover off the oval end of the adapter…
...and fit the oval end of the adapter into the oval opening of the metal chamber.
This is how to use the Pulmicort NebuChamber. First, you need to shake the whole device so that the contents of the aerosol canister are properly mixed.
Hold the Pulmicort NebuChamber horizontally like this.
If your doctor has told you to take one puff, press the top of the aerosol canister once. If your doctor has told you to take two puffs, press it twice. This releases the medicine into the metal chamber.
Now, place the mouthpiece between your teeth and close your lips.
Breathe in slowly and deeply through your mouth. Adults should do this once.
Young children may need to breathe in and out 5 to 10 times through the mouthpiece.
If your doctor has told you to take another dose at the same time, shake the device again and repeat the process. After you have taken your dose, rinse your mouth out with water.
When you are not using your Pulmicort NebuChamber please keep it in the carrying case to protect it from dirt. It’s important to keep the device clean. There are full instructions with the leaflet that comes with your Pulmicort NebuChamber. And that’s it. If you have any problems using your Pulmicort NebuChamber please speak to your pharmacist, nurse or doctor. Thank you.
